Balky, slow. Clean interface

UPDATE: Now using version 5 (28). Not much different but downloads are still so slow I rarely use the app anymore. I wish they had done more work under the hood and worried less about fonts and background colors.

But I am particularly aggravated by the “Rate on Mac App Store” option. Click on it and you get an interim window asking if you “enjoy using Leaf.” A “Yes” takes you to the App store for a review, a “No” gives you a link to their support page. I don’t like that kind of deception at all.

The good news is that the app is clean and when it works it works seamlessly, if slowly.

The bad news is that it can take 20-30 seconds to load a story frequently, and 10 seconds is more the norm. (It’s not the wifi feed as browser loads quickly). Tends to hang up as well, necessitating Force Quit. Many stories don’t load fully, only the first paragraph or a link along with the title, though that may have more to do with the media outlet than the app.

I’d give it 2.5 stars if I could. Clear up the issues and I would go 4 stars.
