I would be happy if you could enable the Refresh interval to be set as 2hours, 6hours, or even 24hours. And I’m not sure if Leaf is refreshing feeds after being opened. If it is that would be awesome, since I have a need that I just want to check the feeds after starting my macBook, and I could make Leaf being opened automatically by OSX. Or maybe you can make it as an option, letting it be able to be set it in Perference. Sorry for my poor English.
Simple and smooth to catch up timely news or informations!
Nice simple yet powerful news reader. My only request would be the ability to delete articles I don’t want to keep, right now you either keep all articles or none once they expire. Add the ability to delete selected articles and we’re golden.
Long time no updates. I just hope you can add one feature: keep the read item for a while in the list when “view -> unread articles” is chosen, then I could use “K” to choose the article that I just read. Many thanks!
I need this for my day job. After an hour struggling with Feedly and Google News, I decided to splurge the $10 for Leaf. Relative to other apps, this feels like very little for the money. It has a clunky and non-intuitive UI whose main virtue is “still better than Feedly.” Grrr. On the plus side, I can track my Feeds. With some effort on my part, it does the minumum. I don’t understand all the positive reviews. I’m sure this would work if I spent enough hours learning its ins and outs. But is it EASY to set up? No. For context, I have worked in Silicon Valley for more than two decades, so I do know how to operate a computer.
The only feature request I have is to be able to mute certain feeds. Sometimes I don’t want to completely unsubscribe, but I don’t want the feed to be bugging me with updates every 5 minutes and filling my unread queue. I want them to automatically be marked read, and then I can go to the feed and browse the articles if I want.
i switched over from netnewswire to try out something new on my desktop and absolutely hate this compared it. no ability to set up filters and smart folders is a major drawback and a basic function on just about every other rss reader.. i just wasted money on this.
Great RSS reader. No complaints there. However, it has been quite some time that there has been a display issue under macOS Sierra. Granted the new OS hasn’t been out long but I alerted developers to an issue during the beta and the response was that “waiting for the macOS Sierra to be released”. Hoping they can fix the headline display issue soon.
You know what? I recommend this app. Leaf. I used to use NetNewsWire… I think. It’s been so long. But I guess since I’m talking about RSS readers that’s not a big surprise. Do you remember when Mail and Safari supported RSS? I do. I want to encourage people to use RSS an I think Leaf is a great app to use with RSS. The previous version had this weird rendering bug in macOS Sierra but that’s been fixed so this app is working great for me. So much that I’m actually leaving a review. I was thinking of rating it four stars because I do generally get annoyed when apps ask me to leave a review but then I realized that you know what? Humans are dumb and nuance is really best left for descriptions. Like when you get a customer service survey and you know that the (waiter, clerk, and so forth) is going to get penalized when you say four stars out of five even though in your opinion four stars is a really good experience. So yeah. Leaf. I use it all the time and it works. Thumbs up.
I really enjoy Leaf as it’s clean and simple. Leaf has everything you could want in an RSS reader. It gives you a an elegant no fuss approach to keeping track of your favourite news and blogs. Leaf is conveniently compatible with your other online RSS trackers and allows you to share across your social networks. It lets you intuitively organise and keep track of multiple RSS feeds and view their content in the format best suited. Leaf has a filter to find the news, articles and papers that i care about and then view them in a beautiful interface. I load it up once a day to check about a dozen newsfeeds and it suits this application. If you try a lot of RSS readers, you will eventually end up using Leaf. If you are lucky enough to try Leaf as the first RSS reader, save your time to explore others.
I never thought I’d find the need to buy an RSS reader for my desktop since I read most of my news on my ipad. When i started searching for a reader, i instantly knew I wasn’t going to bother with Reeder since I’ve never liked the development of that application. My search ended with Leaf and it’s rich feature set. Dark mode, advance article list sorting, articles open in Safari view controllers to take advantage of content blocking. Overall, Leaf is a gem in a sea of mediocre news readers. I’d easily recommend Leaf as I’ve been using it for just over a year now. Another thing I’d like to mention is customer support. top notch.
Finally a low budget app that does everything we used to be able to do when Apple offered RSS as part of the MacOS. Simple interface too.
I’ve tried them all, and this one is the best. I love the design, I love the functionality, and I love being able to bring up each story in its original website context. The notifications work great, and the integration with Feedly is huge. That’s actually the primary reason why I started looking for Mac RSS readers. Feedly’s official app is basically nothing but a web wrapper and is actually pretty awful. If you’re trying to decide whether or not to drop the $20 on this, it’s worth every penny in my opinion. Money well spent for a great product. UPDATE FOR VERSION 5.0.3: I’d like to thank the development team for fixing the macOS Sierra issue with the article titles going off the edge of the window. Things look the way they’re supposed to now!
A really great app that helps cut down my browser surfing and helps me organize my feeds. Never crashes and works great with MacOS. I would like to see more color options and reading views.
Good reader, reliable (mostly) and works well with Feedly. Why 3 stars then? Because the developer does not support the product and does not bother to fix significant bugs in the product. Since I first started using Leaf over a year ago, the icons in the feed listing have been messed up. After a couple of days of using it, the feed icons get all jumbled up and no longer match the feed. It’s annoying as hell, and I’ve contacted the developer more than once. No fix. Nothing annoys me more than a fundamentally good product with glaring bugs that never get fixed.
Simple. Unbotrusive. Works flawlessly.
Best I have tried.
This app is nice, I only have one complaint: Maybe I’m just an old fuddy-duddy, yet I’m not a fan of Material Design (I had a fit when my Bank’s ATM interface adopted it). 1. My eyesight isn’t that good anymore - bright white hurts my eyes. 2. I’m not a cave-dwelling mole - I can’t distinguish bewteen dark colors and black. Please consider adding some degree of color to your app (minor shades of grey) so that old people, like me, can easily use the interface.
It’s a great app. Excellent design, it feels clean and has nice touches that remind me of Reeder. Reeder was my favorite RSS app for many years and although I am saddened to see it in its current state, I am so glad I went to Leaf. Helped wherever needed. I do wish it was quicker to manage huge amounts of articles, and had a way to add articles to Instapaper (or any service for that matter) in one click, but it doesn’t stop me from recommending this as the best actively developed RSS app hands down.
