Clutter-free and article views don’t work, useless until fix.
Removed button for switch beetwen feeds. Now programm unusable with disabled sidebar.
What a nasty blue colors I can’t change? Previous version was perfect in comparisson with this one… Reeder - 5 stars. Last update - 1 star :(
Easy to uderstand how it works…simply does his jobs….and doesn’t invade your screen, in one word love this RSS feed tool….
Great app, does the job. I like to leave it open in the background as to get notified of new posts on my feed. A must-have.
Leaf is a reader that does a great job of allowing you to summarize, view articles -clutter free and web view. It is simple to set up and read your articles in a timely fashion without the hassle of trying to keep track of your newsgroups, RSS, ATOM and RDF to name a few. Since purchasing this application I find I read my articles more often. Thus preventing the very large unread count when you don’t read your articles often.
Keep your money. You really don’t need it.
App looks decent (haven’t used it long) but the lack of Hootsuite support will be a deal breaker for me. I read my Feedly news in order to share it with others.
The App works well, functions as any RSS reader should but when you move the window to a second display it loses all artwork on articles, feeds etc.. Really weird bug.
Needs folders, to work!!!! But other than that, works great :)!!!!
UPDATE: Now using version 5 (28). Not much different but downloads are still so slow I rarely use the app anymore. I wish they had done more work under the hood and worried less about fonts and background colors. But I am particularly aggravated by the “Rate on Mac App Store” option. Click on it and you get an interim window asking if you “enjoy using Leaf.” A “Yes” takes you to the App store for a review, a “No” gives you a link to their support page. I don’t like that kind of deception at all. ==== The good news is that the app is clean and when it works it works seamlessly, if slowly. The bad news is that it can take 20-30 seconds to load a story frequently, and 10 seconds is more the norm. (It’s not the wifi feed as browser loads quickly). Tends to hang up as well, necessitating Force Quit. Many stories don’t load fully, only the first paragraph or a link along with the title, though that may have more to do with the media outlet than the app. I’d give it 2.5 stars if I could. Clear up the issues and I would go 4 stars.
All in here, easily utilized, great power user tool!
Leaf is head and shoulders above other RSS readers in terms of features and reliability. Simple clean interface, but lots of muscle underneath to do with what is needed by both casual and power users. Make it yours!
I used readkit which was 100% cheaper than Leaf, still syncs with feedly and works fairly well. Well, in strolls the beautiful Leaf and off I go. I’m not at all sorry except I hate apps that nag me for a rating on the app store. Buy it, its that good but be warned.
Pricy for what it is and even though the graphic design is nice, the UI is unintuitive and buggy. There is a “Select first article of subscriptions” option. Without it selected, there is no easy way to start scrolling through items with the keyboard. With it selected, if there is nothing in a list then it will keep the previous article, even if that’s inappropriate for the selected list. No comfortable way, if you’re jumping from starred items to all items, to jump to the top of the list. Open external viewer sometimes fails silently. I would normally have just pegged this as a waste of money and forgotten about it, but the app begs for reviews, so here one is.
Leaf is a nice looking and lightweight RSS reader, with clean design, wide range of syncing and sharing abilities, and a cool development team. I can keep up with all my Feedly feeds right within Leaf, everything syncs fine. I can say I’m very happy with Leaf, as I’ve tried other news readers over the years , and this is the one I enjoy the most! I also need to mention its relatively modest footprint and operating overhead, which makes it head and shoulders above other RSS readers in terms of reliability. Plays well with it’s mates and OS X El Captain too. Can’t say I remember it ever hanging. The price is also below others and you literally cannot find a better RSS app for Mac.
Its got an awesomely clean design. And its got a dark theme option which has proven great for reading in the evenings when my eyes may be tired from computer work all day.
Unlike many RSS reader applications which are just excuses to drag the user to their website, Leaf functions cleanly as an RSS reader. It lets me add feeds on my own computer and view articles either in the application or on a browser. The three-column format is clean and easy to use. You can choose either periodic or manual feed updates. At first it bombarded me with notifications, one for every article in every feed. It took some work, but I was able to make them stop. That big a mass of notifications shouldnt be the default. The main annoyance which I cant fix is that it grabs an image from every article, whether its specified in the feed or not, and displays it with an animated bounce. This slows down the reader, since the images can be large. Id like an option to turn images off.
From my point of view here are the pros and cons: Pros: * Stable and excellent on CPU utilization, even has a feature where you can make it less CPU intensive if you need. It’s so good I dont mind having it run all the time. Unlike many other readers I’ve used in the past * Decent reader with 3 pane screen * Keybinds Shortcuts work nicely * Has multiple sharing options (all the ones that come with OSX) * cleanish looking interface Cons: My only problem is sharing is only via a link. So evernote for example is not able to grab a copy of an article for itself. It and all other sharing options will grab a link only. To the dev’s credit, I can’t remember right now if any newsreader other than online versions (Feedly) are capable of that.
You got my $9.99, congratulations. Now I’m going to buy Reader 3 in hopes that unlike this app, that one won’t constantly pester me for app store ratings and reviews. BYE! Oh, aside from that crap, it works.
